The United States saw a Total Solar Eclipse!. For comparison purposes, the map below shows both paths of totality over the U. The shadow of the moon will track over parts of Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina.
It was also visible as a partial solar eclipse from as far north as Nunavut in northern Canada to as far south as northern South America.
This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Salem, Oregon to Charleston.
The lunar shadow enters the United States near Introduction. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature's most awe inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. There are some great cities that are squarely in the path, as well!
